Dear Diary: Entry from Andrew Boyle, Photo Editor, The DDD

Entry from Andrew Boyle, Photo Editor, The DDD.

Instead of choosing a career that would provide stability, sanity and a relatively care free life, I chose to get into photography at the tender age of 13 after seeing Anton Corbijn’s rock photography for the first time. Upon picking up a camera at 16, it was love at first sight. After carving out a successful career in music and fashion photography in Australia, I did what any insane person would do – pack everything up to start again in New York City and pursue my life long ambition of working in the Big Apple’s photo industry. After a stint at Milk Studios, I was lucky enough  to assist (with the help of a multitude of friends and colleagues – too many to thank here) the likes of Annie Leibovitz, Max Vadukal, Brigette Lacombe, Timothy White, Jason Kibbler and a surprisingly high amount of Australian’s that call the city home. Obviously working for the DDD would add a hundred hours extra work a week so when the opportunity came it was a no brainer! I hope to remain in NY for good, perhaps raise some kids (upstate of course!) along the way and eventually shoot all my music and movie heroes. And learn to sleep more than 6 hours a night.

The “Dear Diary” series are brief entries from people who explain a bit of what they do, why they do it, and sometimes, who they do.
